Q) How long have you been a member?
A) Almost two years.
Q) What's your favorite event so far?
A) My favorite event so far was the October T2 event at Café Diem in Ankeny. Several new and experienced designers shared our so-called "horror" design stories from bad printer mistakes to those horrible, never happy clients. Some of the stories I heard I've told again and again and there are definitely ones that I will most likely never forget.
Q) Why did you join AIGA?
A) I joined AIGA because I was new to the Des Moines design community after graduating from Drake and wanted to get to know fellow, local designers. AIGA provides a great network of people that I refer to in time of need
Q) Why did you become a designer?
A) I really loved my drafting and computer classes in high school, not to mention I created the best posters when it came to doing projects. One thing lead to another and I knew I wanted to design something new everyday.
I didn't know I wanted to do graphic design in particular until I was looking at colleges. When they explained the curriculum for graphic design, I knew that was me! Also, it's fun being a designer and having people, especially your parents, not really understand what you really do. I love having design lingo and insights that only fellow designers can understand!
Q) What is your favorite typeface?
A) My favorite font is Meta. I especially like the way the numbers don't exactly align to the baseline. It's just an interesting font that is unlike most standard fonts.
Q) Do you have a favorite PMS color?
A) My favorite PMS color would have to be 485 Red because it's a bright red and to me it's the perfect red.
